Jesus and Mary

The four gospels in scripture are very familiar to Catholics around the world. We hear it on our mother’s lap, learn it in school, read it in the Bible, and hear it preached from our pulpits. Now we can even view it in theaters, in our living rooms on a big screen TV, or on youtube.

Yet our soul longs for more . . . the ache is not subdued. We yearn for heaven to bow down to us on earth. Most of us long to see the face of Jesus, if even for just a short moment. We long for His touch, for His encouragement, for His invitation, for His healing.

The “Jesus and Mary” sacred art exhibit depicts a God of pure goodness, who cares about our concerns, struggles, and burdens. He hears us, He empathizes with us, He shows mercy. The images which “Jesus and Mary” bring to people testify to a God with flesh on, who is approachable.

Matthew 9:13 “But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
